The Servicing Equipment model explores how to maximize the profit from equipment distributed throughout the environment. This can be done by adjusting the amount of service crews working and deciding what type of replacement policy should be in effect.
All working equipment produces daily revenue before eventually breaking down or having to be repaired or replaced. Service crews are dispatched to all “in need of repair”/broken down equipment to address these issues or to perform needed maintenance every maintenance period.
As equipment gets older, the rate of failure increases and equipment is more likely to fail. While repairing, service crews will perform needed maintenance if the equipment is past its maintenance period. If by chance equipment cannot be repaired or a certain replacement policy is in effect, service crews must replace the equipment before heading off to the next request or their home docking position.
